Jean-Michel Lenoir

A passion for nature from an early age led Jean-Michel Lenoir to photography, to capture the magical moments of beautiful, pristine nature and wildlife.

Landscape photography is his quest for atmosphere, where light and beauty are key references, his aesthetic landmarks. Jean-Michel relies on his love of open spaces, combined with his search for beautiful light. He searches for simplicity; images that go to the core, with few objects in the frame. He loves minimalism and simple landscapes. Snow, ice & mist have been his guides for many years.

Jean-Michel has a suggestive approach: “I don’t try to show a subject as it is, but to share what it expresses. It’s my way of telling stories and conveying my sensitivity, like my recent book, Evanescence”.

Images of fleeting nature; snow showers blur tree lines, mist rises above a pond, wave breaks over a rock, water runs under a frozen river, the silhouette of an animal fades to blend with the white.

Combining his passion for pictures with rugged landscapes, Jean-Michel also organizes and guides photo tours and workshops. From northern Europe to South America, photography takes him to wilderness areas, his main source of inspiration.

Jean-Michel has won prizes from the prestigious WPY and GDT photography competitions, is published regularly in magazines, and is an ambassador for Fujifilm and Cokin.

Emergence
Mist and fog have fuelled legends, but they conjure a soft and poetic atmosphere, transition between night and dawn, dreams and reality. Silky atmosphere with suggestive shapes emerging from silvery plumes.

Horizon
Earth and sky merge – sharing, infinity, harmony. Dawn breaks – shades of grey.

Apparition
Winter encounters with wildlife, a waking dream.

Solitude
Personal reflection, a door opens into me, and I capture the moment, a chamois in the Pyrenees, a tree blown by the wind. Silhouette in the snow with curves – silence and cold.
